Emanuel "Manny" S. Cooper, DVM Husband of Florence for 62 years; father of Sandra (Bernard) Fischbach and Mary Lou Cooper; grandfather of Rachel and Noah Fischbach, Nina and Elaine Harris. Private services were held.
Mildred Leona Wandel in San Francisco on June 3, 2006 at age 83. Wife of the late Maurice Wandel; sister of Donald (Susan Romer) Ungar; stepmother of Paul Wandel and Leslie (Karen) Wandel; grandmother of Simeon Riekert and Jeremiah Wandel; aunt of Michael (Lisa Spiegel), Kenneth (Ava) and Mark (Bob Bommersbach) Ungar, Lee and Lauren Kaplan. Longtime member of ORT, an avid reader and book club member for over 50 years, accomplished knitter, a passionate bridge player, gourmet cook and a world traveler. Funeral services were held at Salem Memorial Park, Colma. Contributions to the Jewish Home, 302 Silver Ave., SF, CA 94112 preferred.
Hans Gronowski in San Francisco on May 30, 2006. Beloved husband of the late Elizabeth (Libby) Gronowski. Beloved brother of Kurt and Barbara Gronowski, and the late Ralph Gronowski. Loving uncle of David and Karen; and Stephen and Katy Gronowski; adoring grand uncle of Alex, Carolyn, Madeline and Caitlin Gronowski. Beloved son of the late Erna and Wilhelm Gronowski. Hans was a man of great character and generosity who had the love of all his friends and the respect and admiration of the community. Services and interment were held at the Home of Peace Chapel, 1299 El Camino Real, Colma. Mildred (Mickey) Jacobson beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died peacefully at the home of her daughter on Friday, May 26, 2006, at the age of 95. Born in Des Moines, Iowa, Mickey moved to San Francisco with her husband and daughter in 1950. Throughout her life, Mickey was a tireless volunteer for Jewish and other causes. She was an active member of Women's American ORT and Peninsula Temple Sholom. She loved to sew and knit, making unique blankets and sweaters for friends, family and those in need. Perhaps her favorite interest was doting on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mickey is survived by her husband, Ben Jacobson; her daughter and son-in-law Sandy and Barry Oberstein; grandchildren, Linda (Moshe) and Jeff (Sophie); and great-grandchildren, Lily, Evan, Avital and Zev Oberstein. Memorial contributions may be made to Peninsula Temple Sholom.
