John D. "Jack" Kniveton. May 21, 1922 - August 12, 2005. Passed away peacefully in Napa after a short illness. Preceded in death by his parents Roy and Madilon Kniveton and his sister Alyce Wood. Survived by his loving wife Marlene, brother-in-law Morrie (Sharon) Bobrow, sister Kathleen (Gordon) Cartwright, daughter Lin (David) Glen, son Roy (Lynn) Kniveton, son Doug (Connie) Kniveton, daughter Janet Kniveton and Marta Insogna, grandchildren Seth, Jesse and Jonathan Glen, T.J., Daniel Kniveton, Nicholas and Christopher Kniveton, and Sofia Kniveton-Insogna. Jack served his country during World War II with the 1476th Army Corps of Engineers. In 1948, he graduated from UC Berkeley with an engineering degree and, that same year, joined Norman S. Wright Co. as a sales engineer. He became an owner and presided over Norman Wright Mechanical Equipment Company from 1977 to 1996. Jack enjoyed his retirement years in Napa. He and Marlene enjoyed traveling, and playing golf and tennis at the Silverado Country Club. He described their marriage as the best years of his life. Jack was a true gentleman. Anne Levine wife of the late Leo Levine. Mother of Carol L. Weiss (Dr. Jeffrey M. Weiss) and Dr. Stanley I. Levine (Louise R. Levine). Grandmother of Erika L. Weiss, Theodore E. Weiss, Elizabeth J. Levine, Andrew B. Levine (Cantor Lisa Levine) and the late Howard M. Levine. Great-grandmother of Emily Rose Levine. A life member of Hadassah. Funeral services were held in New York.
Sara Sue Singer in San Francisco on Aug. 13, 2005 at the age of 96. Beloved wife of the late Isadore M. Singer, M.D.; loving mother of Marilyn Singer of University Heights, OH. Dear sister of Rebecca Kramer and Meyer Spitalny of Phoenix, AZ and the late Sam, Julius, Elizabeth, August, M.D., Morris, and Louis Spitalny; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Longtime member of Congregation Emanu El. Funeral services will be held Aug. 16th at 1:00 p.m. at Home of Peace Cemetery Chapel, Colma.
