Zora Ostrow Golden. May 17, 1913-June 3, 2005. Born and raised in San Francisco, Zora was the daughter of Max and Leah Ostrow and sister of Bob Ostrow, deceased. She attended Girls High School and the University of California. She was predeceased by her husbands Sam Slavin and John Golden. Zora was an original. A warm heart, acute intelligence, unblinking honesty, remarkable curiosity and gin-dry humor endeared her to a wide circle of friends. She treasured these friendships, many of which spanned her entire lifetime, especially her dear friend Jane Siegel. A wise and beloved matriarch, her final and most gracious accomplishment was the stoic and inspirational last months of her life. She will be profoundly missed by her family — her daughter Jane Weil, her husband John and their daughters Chloe and Lindsay; her son Richard Slavin, his wife Sally, their daughters Elizabeth Weingart (Jack), Suzy Allison (Timo) and Amy Norstad (Aaron) and their eight children; her stepson Michael Golden, his wife Suzy; her stepson Peter Golden and stepdaughter Jonne Golden and by their children and grandchildren. A celebration of her life will occur later this month. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the charity of the donor's choice.

In recent years he volunteered at the Jewish Community Center in Berkeley, working with the programs for seniors. His hobbies were making jewelry and clocks and folk dancing. He is survived by his son, Joe, in San Francisco and his grandson, Tony, in Chicago.

A resident of Contra Costa County since 2002. Wife of the late Theodore Levinson for 26 years; loving mother of Edward (Ruth) Levinson; devoted grandmother of Howard, Rachel and Amy Levinson. Martin Melvin left us peacefully on June 8, 2005 in the company of his family and only a few months after his beloved soul mate of 71 years, Kay Martin passed away. She must have been getting impatient, as it was the day after her birthday. His amazing life of 95 years took him from Russia to China and finally to San Francisco. Father of Maureen, grandfather of Marc and Adam, great-grandfather of Michaela and loved by Jeannette, Francie, Brian, Howard, Lee and others. He helped us all to be safe and happy. He was an honest businessman, a Nebraska Husker and an optimist until the end. He was sure the Giants would win at PacBell Park even though he never got to see them play there. A farmer at heart, he wanted to come back as a bull in Montana. Services were held at Salem Memorial Park on El Camino Real in Colma. The family requests that well-wishers, in lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer's Association (in honor of Kay, he would want that).
