Jules Key, M. D. passed away on May 25th in Marin County at the age of 88. Dearly beloved husband of the late Jeanne Key; loving father of Jackie Moskowitz and Jeff Key; loving father-in-law of Jerry Moskowitz and Dutch Key. Cherished grandfather of Laura and David Moskowitz and Max and Anna Key. Devoted uncle to his many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his brother, Goodwin Key. Also survived by his sister-in-law, Bess Key and his brother-in-law, Lowell Adelson. Jules was born on Aug. 24, 1916 in Fresno, California. He graduated from UC Berkeley and UCSF Medical School; he did his dermatological residency training at UCSF. Jules had a long and distinguished career as a dermatologist in San Francisco. He was on the faculty of UCSF and was an active member of many medical professional organizations. Jules proudly served as an officer in the Army Air Corps as a physician during World War II. He met and married Jeanne during the war. Jeanne and Jules were married for 52 years. Jules lived life to the fullest. He was devoted to his family and career and was also a talented artist and world traveler. He will be greatly missed by all of those who had the pleasure and privilege of knowing him. Family and friends were invited to attend services at 11:00 am on Sunday, May 29th at the chapel at the Home of Peace, 1299 El Camino Real in Colma. (650) 755-4700. Max Sigmund Levi in San Francisco, May 24. Age 83. Loved by his wife, Eva. Father of Laurence (Talia) Levi, Shelley (John) Reppel, Karen (Mel Shandler) Levi-Shandler, Constance (Alan Robin) Levi. Grandchildren Amy Gobrosky, David Willson, Laura Hill, Christopher Reppel, Danielle and Zachary Robin, Gabriel and Isabel Shandler. Son of Lini, Alfons and Gertrude Levi. Native of Konstanz, Germany. Max came to San Francisco in 1938 at the age of 17. He became a successful business owner of Pacific Coast Products, a wholesale food company. Max was involved in local politics, President of Allied Trades, Bnai-Brith, Golden Gate Lodge, Monterey Heights Homeowners Association. His special interest was the Anti-Defamation League. Services were held at Home of Peace, May 29, 2005. Donations to ADL, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and Congregation Emanu-El.
Rose C. Levy. At home in Daly City on May 29, 2005 at age 94. Dearly beloved wife of the late Melvin Jacob Levy; loving mother of Sandra (Don) Stearns and Richard (Karen) Levy; cherished grandmother of David (Audrey) and Jeffrey (Ida) Stearns; beloved sister of Frances Becker and the late Sally Dreyer; also survived by many loving nieces. Crypt-side services were held at Salem Memorial Park on El Camino Real in Colma. Donations in Rose's memory may be sent to the City of Hope Foundation or to the charity of your choice and are preferred.
Rachael Schatz. In San Francisco on May 23, 2005 at age 91. Beloved wife of the late Mike Schatz; sister of Arthur Evdasin; dear sister-in-law of Beatrice Spritz and Hy (Pauline) Schatz. Funeral services were held at Home of Peace Cemetery, Colma.
Herbert Schein. In Sonoma on May 24, 2005 at age 83. Beloved husband of Ludwika ("Lee") Schein for 54 years. Loving father of Karen C. Schein. Devoted grandfather of Miranda W. Carson. Herbert was born and raised in Austria. He escaped to Shanghai, China just before the outbreak of World War II, at age 16. He was the escort for the refugee transport from China to Ellis Island in 1947. He immigrated to Israel. In 1951 he married Ludwika in Montreal, Canada. In 1952 they moved to San Francisco where Herbert and Ludwika ran a jewelry business for 50 years. They moved to Sonoma in 1988. Herbert loved to travel with his wife Ludwika and enjoyed swimming and reading. He was a member of B'nai Brith and the Concordia Club. He was a member of Congregations Beth Israel and Beth Shalom in San Francisco, and Congregation Shir Shalom in Sonoma. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Association Headquarters, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Suite 1700, Chicago, IL 60601, phone 800-272-3900, or your favorite charity. Graveside funeral services were held on Sunday, May 29th at 11:00 a.m. at Eternal Home Cemetery, 1051 El Camino Real, Colma.
