800 new jobs in Jerusalem

jerusalem (jps) | Industry in Jerusalem is recovering, as the city is poised to absorb some 800 skilled workers this year for the first time in a decade, manufacturing expert Ran Tuttnauer said recently.

Nearly 500 jobs will be available in high-tech firms, and another 300 in Teva Pharmaceuticals’ newly built Jerusalem facility.

The Manufacturers Association predicted that Jerusalem-area industrial sales will grow 8 percent in 2005.

Tuttnauer said his forecast is contingent on continued calm in the city. “If buses start blowing up again,” he elaborated bluntly, “of course these figures will go down.”
