About 300 service employees walked off the job for a one-day strike Monday, Nov. 22, at the Jewish Home in San Francisco.

The SEIU Local 250 workers are protesting the Home’s implementation of a labor contract employees have thrice voted down. The contract calls for partial employee funding of health care benefits.

“The workers are going to be meeting to discuss their next steps,” said Glenn Goldstein, the union’s director of organizing.

Daniel Ruth, the president and CEO of the Home, ensured the public that the Jewish Home ran smoothly during the strike.

“Our residents were well cared for,” Ruth said.
