Benard, Miriam "Hannah." In San Francisco, Sept. 12. Age 92. Wife of Joseph Benard for 64 years. Mother of Penny Benard and Gail Friedman (and Hartland) Beck. Grandmother of Dr. Mark (and Mary) Friedman of Ann Arbor, Mich. and Rachelle Friedman of Sunnyvale. Great-grandmother to Alexis Friedman. Known as "Gaga" to her grandchildren. Youngest child of Pearl and Simon Jacobson of San Francisco. Preceded in death by her brothers Nathan "Dave" Benard, Harry and Sam Benard and her sister Esther "Dede" Jacobson. Aunt to many nephews, nieces, grandnieces and grandnephews. Traveled with her husband throughout much of the world. Spent 15 years at San Francisco Airport as travelers' aide. Patron of the arts. Supported many charities. Services were held at Home of Peace Chapel, Colma. Interment at Salem Memorial Park, Colma. Donations to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 102454, Atlanta, GA 30368-2454. 

Sommer, Roselyn Catz. In San Francisco, Sept. 10. Wife of the late Sidney Sommer. Daughter of the late Josephine Stein Catz and Maurice Catz. Sister of Muriel Catz McFall of Portland, Ore. Born Dec. 3, 1907. Fourth generation San Franciscian. At her request no services were held. Interment at Home Of Peace Cemetery, Colma.

Strauss, Walter S. In Redwood City, Sept. 14. Age 81. Husband of Helga R. Strauss for 58 years. Father of Richard (and Debbie), Larry (and Cathy) and Thomas Strauss. Grandfather of Daniel, Bradley and Ashley Strauss. A 60-year member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local No. 6. Funeral services were held at Hills of Eternity Cemetery Chapel, Colma. Donations to the charity of your choice.
