Lisa Renee Rauchwerger and Kaila Jessica Schwartz were joined in a brit ahavah (covenant of love) on Aug. 1 at Congregation Beth Am in Los Altos Hills. Rabbi Janet Marder officiated, with additional singing and blessings by Cantor Melanie Fine and Rabbi Carie Carter.

Lisa received a bachelor of art's degree from Cal State Northridge, in illustration/graphic design, with a minor in Jewish studies. She is an artist, author and illustrator specializing in Judaic paper cuts, ketubot and children's book illustration. She also is owner of Cutting Edge Creations. She is the daughter of Diane and George Rauchwerger of Sunnyvale. She is the sister of Misha Rauchwerger of Sonora. Grandparents are the late Ida and Sam Levin, and Augusta Rauchwerger and the late Ernest Rauchwerger.

Kaila received a bachelor of fine arts degree from Syracuse University in acting/directing. She spent 11 years as a professional actor, director, stage manager and singer-songwriter in the Midwest. She received a master of art's degree in education from John Carroll University in Cleveland. Kaila teaches English and theater at Milpitas High School. She is the daughter of Dr. Howard and Trudy Schwartz of Cleveland. She is the sister of Adam Schwartz of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Michael Schwartz of New York. Grandparents are the late Edna Schwartz, and the late Clara and Jacob Blody.

The couple met four years ago in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, on a new moon, and they moved out to California on their first anniversary. They married on a blue moon, and after a honeymoon in western Canada, the newlyweds are living in San Jose.
