Engagement

Melissa Chava Past, daughter of Rosalie and Sheldon Jarod Past of Pacifica, and Daniel Kertz, son of Carolyn and Arlan Kertz of Atherton, have announced their engagement.

The bride-to-be received a bachelor of art's degree in social work from Chico State University and a master's degree in social work from Boston University. She is an adoption social worker for Sierra Adoption Services in Sacramento. She is the sister of Robert Past of Sacramento. Grandparents are Esther Jachimowicz of San Francisco, the late Nathan Jachimowicz, Dorothy and Jack Rosen of Los Angeles, and Allan and Flo Past of San Jose.

Her fiancé received a bachelor of fine art's degree in media arts from the University of Arizona. He works as a sales representative. He is the brother of Loren Kertz of San Rafael. Grandparents are Alexander Graf of Redwood City, the late Lillian Graf, Ethel Kertz of Foster City and the late Herbert Kertz.

The wedding is planned for May 2005.
