Marin film festival spurs incidents

Two incidents at a "Palestine/Israel" film festival in Mill Valley were reported to the police over the weekend.

The festival, sponsored by the Educational Alliance for Peace, a committee of the Marin Peace and Justice Coalition, featured films that mostly offered the Palestinian point of view. Those that did offer the Israeli side featured only the radical left.

Members of S.F. Voice for Israel attended several of the screenings to hand out pro-Israel literature. One unidentified man on Friday night, July 9, stood outside the 142 Throckmorton Theatre, held a sign that said "Arab Terrorists Out of Israel" and was allegedly confrontational to those attending the festival.

"He had to be advised to avoid hassling anyone," said Angel Bernal, patrol captain at the Mill Valley Police Department.

Another incident occurred July 10, when someone attending the festival grabbed an S.F. Voice for Israel activist and pushed him. No arrests were made.
