Hungarian victims may get compensation

Follow j. on   and

washington (jta) | Some 4,000 Holocaust survivors who have not received any compensation may be eligible for money. The Claims Conference said Jews forced to serve in Hungarian "labor battalions" during World War II, as well as survivors who became

citizens of certain Western European countries, may be entitled to monthly compensation from the so-called Article 2 Fund.

That fund has paid more than $1.3 billion to 66,000 survivors since German reunification. Information is available at http://www.claimscon.org or by calling (646) 485-2021.
