Pilot project funds

trips for seniors

Some 30 seniors from Rhoda Goldman Plaza, an assisted living center in San Francisco, will head to the theater on Oct. 19, thanks to the Clo Merle Fund.

The outing to "Beach Blanket Babylon" is the first of four to six such outings planned each year for residents at Rhoda Goldman Plaza, Menorah Park and other local senior facilities.

The fund, created in memory of the late Clotilde Merle, is launching the trips as a pilot project through the Jewish Community Endowment Fund.

Actress Carol Channing and San Francisco philanthropist Richard Goldman will be honored Oct. 30 at a fund-raising celebration for the Institute on Aging.

Dubbed "Curtain Call," the event will be held 6 p.m. at the Coronet, a theater at 3575 Geary Blvd. purchased by the nonprofit institute as a future home.

Proceeds from the $175-per-person evening will benefit the organization's development fund for the new center. Information: (415) 750-4180, ext. 142.
