Krause, who has worked in education for more than 50 years, teaches Holocaust, comparative religions, comparative Judaism, holidays and other subjects, as well as prayer, to seventh- and eighth-graders at Brandeis Hillel Day School in San Francisco.
The recipients receive a $1,000 cash price from the local agency for Jewish education or federation, which is then matched by a $1,500 stipend for professional development from the Grinspoon Foundation and Jewish Life Network/Steinhardt Foundation. Recipients will also be honored at the first Jewish Education Leadership Summit in February.
