meet in Washington
WASHINGTON (JTA) -- Three members of the Palestinian Authority's Cabinet met with congressional leaders to discuss the "road map" peace plan.
Nabil Kassis, Ghassan Al-Khatib and Ziad Abu Amr met with several tough critics of the Palestinians in Washington July 16, including Rep. Tom Lantos (D-San Mateo), ranking minority member of the House of Representatives' International Relations Committee.
The ministers are seeking assurances from Washington that the United States will still back the formation of a Palestinian state even if Israel does not keep its commitments laid out under the road map.
