Hate crime numbers drop but anti-Jewish crimes static

"That pretty much constitutes staying at a consistent level. It's kind of alarming when in many other areas there were decreases, in some areas significant decreases," said Rose Gabaeff, the regional assistant director of the Anti-Defamation League.
"It's great news that hate crimes are down across the state, but we were saddened they stayed at the same level against Jewish people. And also, [the report] doesn't reflect a major increase we saw in anti-Semitic activities across the state. These are not just criminal offenses but instances of harassment and intimidation."
Overall, the report claims 2,007 hate crime victims last year, as opposed to 2,812 in the year 2001.
