Al-Qaida detainee attended Jewish school in Britain

Head teacher Estelle Lesser told the paper that the suspected terrorist was "a good pupil during his time here. The latest news about him came as a great surprise to everyone."

One of Begg's former Jewish classmates recalled him as "a nice lad" who "knew his brachot better than I did and could read Hebrew well." Another recalled him as "a rather quiet boy who could run quite fast." Begg's younger twin siblings attended the preschool while two other brothers attended the main school.

"This was our school," Azmatt Begg told the Chronicle. "There was no enmity with Jews or Christians. We treat everybody the same. I have a very high opinion of the school, and I am so happy I sent my children there."
