JERUSALEM (JPS) -- In a study to be released next month by the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, Palestinian sources confirm that at least 34 Palestinian armed terrorists were killed fighting in the battle for the Jenin Refugee Camp.

The total number of Palestinian causalities in the battle was 52, a sharp contrast from the claims of Palestinian organizations that have openly stated that thousands had died.

The study reveals for the first time that Palestinian terror organizations saw themselves as "armed combatants" and not as civilians who died in a deadly massacre.

'Saddam Hussein' arrested in Israel

JERUSALEM (JTA) -- Saddam Hussein has been arrested in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. No, not that Saddam Hussein.

Israeli police said July 10 they arrested a 21-year-old Druze Arab who shares the same name as the ousted and missing Iraqi president after he threw stones at an Israeli tourist bus.

"Police in the Golan...succeeded in doing what no one else has done -- they arrested Saddam Hussein," quipped national police spokesman Gil Kleiman.

Iraqi Jews get help from U.S. groups

JERUSALEM (JTA) -- Two Jewish groups have begun aiding Iraqi Jews. The 30-some person Jewish community in Baghdad began receiving aid from the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, which is being distributed by the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society.

"This is a small-size program, both because of the number of Jews there is small and the time horizon for their stay is limited," said Steven Schwager, JDC's executive vice president.
