Interfaith ‘quest for peace and justice’ taking place in July

by World peace may seem like an oxymoron, but a group of 18 faith and interfaith groups is sponsoring a conference in Pacific Grove, The three-day event, "Healing the World: An Interfaith Quest for Peace and Justice in Warring Times," will be July 25-27 at the

Also participating is Rabbi Jay Miller of the Peninsula Interfaith Clergy group. He will lead Shabbat services the first night, and conduct a workshop titled "Improbable Pairs and Unlikely Coalitions."

Worship experiences including Buddhist, Christian, Jewish, Muslim and Native American traditions will be offered.

There will be 20 workshops, including "Jewish Mystical Resources for Peace-Making," "Reconciliation in Times of Terror" and "Visioning an Alternative World Order and Building it."

Masankho Banda, a recipient of the Unsung Hero of Compassion Award from the Dalai Lama, will provide music throughout the gathering.

Sponsors of the event include the Board of Rabbis of Northern California, Islamic Cultural Center of Northern California and Interfaith Witness for Peace in the Middle East.
