SAITAMA, Japan (JPS) --Israel's national under-22 men's basketball team lost to the United States 98-74 at the World Basketball Championship for Young Men here on Tuesday.

It was Israel's first loss in five games during the preliminary round of the 12-nation tournament.

Israel finished in second place in Group B, behind the United States and ahead of Argentina and Croatia.

It faces the Dominican Republic next in the quarterfinals.
