I want to pay tribute to my hero, Jan Karski. His life was one of personal courage and determination. He was the man who wanted to stop the Holocaust.

This Righteous Gentile, a Polish partisan, brought the truth about the mass murders of Jews to the attention of the Allied leaders in Europe. Allied countries responded with indifference and disbelief.

In July 1943, Karski traveled to the United States to meet with President Franklin D. Roosevelt and tried to inform him about the extermination of the Jewish people. Again, he was met with indifference.

Unable to influence Allied leaders, Karski joined the Polish Free Army, based in England, and spent the war fighting the Nazis with determination.
