San Ramon’s ZapMe! acquired for millions

by JERUSALEM (JPS) -- Gilat Satellite Networks and ZapMe! Corp. of San Ramon recently announced an agreement under which Gilat will, Under the terms of the agreement, Gilat, an Israeli firm, will buy just over half of 44.3 million ZapMe! shares at $2.32 per sha

Gilat Chairman and CEO Yoel Gat said, "This acquisition will provide Gilat with the technology, employees, and resources to focus more attention on the highly attractive business-to-business market."

The ZapMe! acquisition, to be completed by the end of this year, is not expected to materially impact Gilat financial results in 2000 or 2001.
