At home, Netanyahu tight-lipped about political return

by JERUSALEM (JPS) -- Former prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu returned to Israel from New York late last week faced with increased, Netanyahu sidestepped the issue of whether he intends to challenge Ariel Sharon..

Netanyahu is now facing pressure to decide on a possible return, since the party is already planning its next primary.

But according to Michael Eitan, a Likud Cabinet member, Netanyahu "would do good for himself, the Likud, and the country, if he would not run for prime minister," due to the dire state in which he left the party after last year's loss to Ehud Barak.
