"He said, 'Oh that's terrific, I heard about them and wanted to have one, thank you.'" They also "exchanged pleasantries about the campaign," he said.
The event, which was not specifically for Jewish donors, but had many Jews in attendance, was hosted by the Kushner Companies, a building and development firm. Its owner, Charles Kushner, is prominent in Jewish philanthropic circles, Margulis said.
