SYDNEY (JTA) -- Parents of students suspended from a Jewish day school in Australia for getting caught with marijuana on campus want the local rabbinical court to arbitrate the issue.

But officials with Moriah College have not yet agreed to allow the Sydney Beit Din to hear the case.

In August, 11 boys were suspended from the school for five school terms for buying, selling or possessing marijuana on school premises. Most of the suspended students are now enrolled at another Australian day school, while two of them are attending non-Jewish schools.

Three synagogues make endangered list

ROME (JTA) -- A group devoted to preserving historical sites placed three synagogues on its list of the 100 most endangered sites worldwide.

On its List of Most Endangered Sites 2000, the New York-based World Monuments Fund included the Kahal Shalom Synagogue on the Greek island of Rhodes; the Jodensavanne Archaeological Site in Redi Doti, Suriname; and the Zhovka Synagogue in Zhovka, Ukraine.

The Tel-Dan Canaanite Gate, near Kibbutz Dan in Israel, also made the list.

Russia bomb victims receive Israeli aid

MOSCOW (JTA) -- Humanitarian aid worth $100,000 arrived in Russia from Israel on Monday to help those who survived the recent bomb attacks in Russia.

The aid, delivered by a Russian plane, consisted of medicine and medical equipment for survivors of the blasts, which occurred in Moscow and southern Russia.

According to press reports, Israel has also offered to share its anti-terrorist expertise with Moscow. At least six Jews, including one Israeli citizen, were among those killed by the blasts.

Italian extremist plans a comeback

ROME (JTA) -- Rome's most prominent far-right leader told the La Repubblica newspaper that he plans to relaunch his group, known as the Political Movement, despite a government ban on its activities.

Maurizio Boccacci, 42, has been investigated more than 50 times for hate activities and neo-fascism.
