The other nine recipients include former President Jimmy Carter; former President Gerald Ford; Evy Dubrow, a representative for the International Ladies Garment Workers Union who has advocated for laws to improve labor conditions for more than 50 years; and lawyer-diplomat Max Kampelman, who conveyed word in the 1980s that Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev would consider Jewish emigration.
