Eldar called on Prime Minister Ehud Barak to press for a comprehensive survey to be conducted in the Arab sector as a first step toward a more equal allocation of funds for road development and improvements.
The ministry said there are other reasons for the high number of accidents in the Arab sector. These include lack of proper training for drivers and lack of awareness of road safety.
