California probes 4 firms for unpaid claims

by SACRAMENTO (JTA) -- California State Insurance Commissioner Chuck Quackenbush said Tuesday he is launching a probe of the U.S. s, The insurance firms are Germany's Gerling Konzern and Munich Re, and the Swiss companies Swiss Re and Basler Lebens-Versichergun

"I am committed to deploying a team of 100 to 150 people, if necessary, to accomplish the important task of probing these companies in a comprehensive and aggressive fashion to identify claims and bring appropriate pressure to get claims paid," Quackenbush said in a statement. "We do not allow spectators in this battle for justice."
