‘Punim’ photos, memories on display

The Punim Project, a collection of photographs and memories of residents at the Reutlinger Community for Jewish Living, is on display at the Jewish Community Federation of the Greater East Bay.

The exhibit, by Oakland photographer Laura Turbow, can be viewed at JCF offices, 300 Grand Ave., Oakland during regular business hours.

For the exhibit, the residents shared their life stories, wit and wisdom with volunteer interviewers. Since the first exhibit in 2004, some of the "punim" (Yiddish for "face") have died, but their memories live on.

The project is sponsored by the Women's Philanthropy Division of the Jewish Community Federation of the Greater East Bay and the Reutlinger Community for Jewish Living's Solid Gold Ball.
