Many hours spent helping leave no time for the aches

Why do I volunteer? The reason is two-fold. I fill a need of work to be done. And I am occupied.
Starting out as a friendly visitor at the Jewish Home for the Aged, I also do waitress work in its Garden Cafe. I am able to bring a little sunshine to the people.
I volunteer for the Anti-Defamation League, for the Jewish Bulletin, for RSVP and the Senior Action Network.
For the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco, I volunteer three times a week, waitressing and challah-selling. Needless to say, I volunteer for Super Sunday.
I volunteer at two sites a day, five days a week. I love it, and I am appreciated and loved. I am not lonely, and I have no time to think about aches and pains.
