Mizrahi said that as of last weekend, no Kosovo Jews were reported hurt in NATO bombings.

He said that members of surrounding Jewish communities hope to arrange a visit to the Jews of Kosovo soon.

There are currently only about 184 Jews left in the Macedonian Jewish community, some 98 percent of which was wiped out at Treblinka after being turned in to the Nazis by Bulgarian fascist forces.

The community traces its roots back 26 centuries, from even before Alexander the Great, Mizrahi said.

The current round of fighting in the Balkans has led to increasing interest in the possibility of immigration to Israel, he added.
