Art at South Bay JCC: etchings of Ladino proverbs; submissions on ‘Respect and Dignity’

The Addison-Penzak JCC in Los Gatos is presenting “Traces of Sepharad,” a series of etchings by New York-based artist Marc Shanker based on Ladino proverbs.

The exhibit at the Teitelbaum Family Center for the Arts runs through June 20 and is free of charge. It previously was on display at the Osher Marin JCC in San Rafael.

Shanker’s book of etchings based on the Judeo-Spanish proverbs will be on sale at the exhibition. The JCC is located at 14855 Oka Road, Los Gatos, apjcc.org.

In other arts news, the JCC has put out a call for submissions for its fall Community Art Show. The theme is “Respect and Dignity.” Eligible works include paintings, drawings, photos, mixed media, sculptures and wall hangings. Entrants must be at least 16 years old and live within 60 miles of the JCC. For more information, email Cultural Arts director Shir Gal Kochavi at shir@apjcc.org. Deadline for entries is June 2.
