For the fifth year running, multiple East Bay synagogues, Jewish day schools and agencies will team up to sponsor two East Bay Tikkun Olam Chessed Days, which will take place May 7 and June 25.
The events are geared toward volunteers who wish to engage in acts of kindness and tikkun olam. Volunteer projects include spring cleaning at Youth Spirit Artworks, a cleanup at East Shore State Park, and making care packages for refugee families and the homeless.
Most of the events occur in May, but the food bank projects — for which volunteers will sort food for distribution — and several painting projects are in June.
Last year the event attracted 230 volunteers from more than eight Jewish organizations. Volunteers packed more than 18,500 pounds of apples, decorated 90 bags for Jewish Family and Community Services East Bay’s Passover food delivery program, and sang for residents of Sunrise Senior Living, among other mitzvah opportunities.
The effort received financial support from the Jewish Federation of the East Bay and a pastry donation by Alameda-based Semifreddi’s.
Those interested must register by April 30. For information: ebtocd.weebly.com
