Congregation Etz Chayim in Palo Alto is the starting point for a 2.5-mile walk for peace on Sunday, Sept. 11, involving more than three dozen faith-based and community organizations.
The walk, which begins at 2 p.m., will conclude with a picnic at Mitchell Park at 4:30 p.m. hosted by the American-Muslim Voice Foundation. It is timed to mark the 9/11 terror attacks 15 years ago.
“We walk as people of all ages, races, cultures, religious traditions and backgrounds, united in our diversity, in solidarity as one community, sharing our common humanity,” an email from Etz Chayim said. Registration is at www.multifaithpeace.org.
Before the walk, the Oshman Family JCC will hold on-site and off-site projects as part of a National Day of Service and Remembrance benefiting first responders, veterans and the homeless. The on-site projects begin at 10:30 a.m. at the JCC, 3921 Fabian Way, Palo Alto. Registration is available at paloaltojcc.org.
