Alison Faith Levy

Celebrate Mom. Come to San Francisco with your preschooler and celebrate Mother’s Day with a morning of arts and crafts, a puppet show and live music from local musician Alison Faith Levy. Known for her child-friendly rock with the band the Sippy Cups, Levy got her start as a pop and jazz performer and was in the ’90s power pop group the Loud Family. 10 a.m. Sunday, May 11 at the CJM, 736 Mission St., S.F. Included with museum admission.



Sacred spaces. Artist Susie Coliver, a designer of Jewish prayer spaces, will give an illustrated presentation about her work and how attitudes toward sanctuary design have changed over the years in “Jewish Sacred Space: Designing with Light and Shadow.” Coliver will discuss how natural light plays an important role in her own work. 7 p.m. Thursday, May 15 at the Jewish Community Library, 1835 Ellis St., S.F. Free.

JCCSF Annual Showcase. Gala fundraiser with the Fab Four, a Beatles cover band, dinner and cocktails. At the JCCSF, 3200 California St., S.F. 6 p.m. Tickets start at $350.


You’re Jewish? Four Jewish comedians are set to dazzle the stage with standup at Chochmat HaLev’s “You’re Funny, but You Don’t Look Jewish” event. Described as “matzot pizza topped with Indian spices, served with Vietnamese iced coffee in an African American bakery,” the performers are funny and very Jewish. 8 p.m. Saturday, May 17 at Chochmat HaLev, 2215 Prince St., S.F. $12-$15.


Federation open house. Jewish Federation of the East Bay celebrates its move to new office. Ceremony honoring donors, followed by mezuzah hanging, lunch and tours, plus Teen Foundation grant ceremony. 11 a.m. Free. 2121 Allston Way, Berkeley.

“Feast of Jewish Learning.” Jewish-themed classes and family learning sessions, Sephardic and Yiddish music, kosher food, puppet show. Followed by a picnic dinner and Klezmakers concert. At Oshman Family JCC, 3921 Fabian Way, Palo Alto. 1 to 7:30 p.m. Free.
