Hazon getting ready for bike ride in S.F.

Partly in preparation for its fifth annual Golden Gate Bike Ride from Petaluma to San Francisco in May, and partly to stage a fun event unto itself, Hazon will hold “Bike to the Beach” on Jan. 26.

Participants at a past Golden Gate ride

There will be four rides starting at different locations: Dolores Park in San Francisco, the CalTrain station in downtown San Francisco, Rockridge BART in Oakland (then BART to S.F. for start of ride) and Mill Valley. Each ride, no more than 15 miles and led by an experienced cyclist, will begin around 10:30 a.m. and conclude at Ocean Beach around 12:30 p.m. Riders can return by bike or public transportation.

Taking part in the ride is free, but participants can pay $10 for an optional lunch, or $22 for both lunch and a “Ride Your Bike” T-shirt. All participants will receive $25 off the registration cost of the annual Golden Gate Ride, which is scheduled May 23-26 with options of 30 to 130 miles.

Signups for the Jan. 26 ride, training rides and the Golden Gate Ride and retreat are underway. For details, visit www.hazon.org or send an email to ggride@hazon.org.
