The Jewish Baby Network is offering a six-part Jewish birth preparation class to be held on Wednesday evenings in Palo Alto. Billed as a “one-stop shop for expectant parents,” the course will explore Jewish rituals and traditions having to do with birth and babies.
Guest speakers taking part include birthing instructor Stephanie Freeman, Rabbi Janet Marder of Congregation Beth Am in Los Altos Hills, Rabbi David Booth of Congregation Kol Emeth in Palo Alto and pediatrician/mohel Debra Weiss-Ishai, along with an anesthesiologist, a Jewish chaplain, a social worker and a lactation expert.
The Jewish Baby Network is a 5-month-old initiative aimed at new or expectant parents in the Peninsula Jewish community.
The birthing course begins Wednesday, Jan. 8, and will be held from 6-9 p.m. on six straight Wednesday nights at Parents Place, 200 Channing Ave., Palo Alto. The cost is $200 per couple. To register or for information, visit www.jewishbabynetwork.org.
