Three Syrian mortar shells hit Israeli territory in the Golan Heights. The shells landed near the border fence with Syria on July 16. No damage or injuries were reported. It was the second time this week that Syrian rockets landed in Israeli territory.
It is believed the mortars were fired at Syrian rebels or Syrian soldiers as part of the country’s two-year civil war. Fighting on the border between Israel and Syria has increased in recent days, according to the Times of Israel newspaper. — jta
