Pro-Palestinian protesters started a riot and cried out “Free Palestine” during a Gevatron concert in Berlin, the daily paper Yediot Achronot reported.
The Israeli folk group was performing Oct. 4 at a Jewish National Fund and Israeli House fundraiser when 10 protesters disrupted the show after the first song.
They shouted “Free Palestine” and held up signs protesting JNF activity in the settlements. The protest was organized by the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement, which promotes a boycott of Israel.
The protesters included Palestinians living in Germany, Iranians, a Spanish activist and two Israelis. They hurled JNF boxes and Givatron CDs at the stage and knocked over promotional signs.
“They made a big and very loud mess,” Yoel Parnass, the band’s manager, told Yediot Achronot. “It is the first time in the band’s 65 years of existence that such a thing has happened.”
The disruption lasted about 10 minutes before local security guards managed to remove the protesters so the concert could continue. — ynetnews.com
