Mina Kimmerling & Jake Neuberg
Mina Kimmerling and Jake Neuberg were married Aug. 17 in Berkeley’s Tilden Park. Rabbi Alan Lew officiated. The couple was honored with an aufruf the morning before at Congregation Beth Sholom in San Francisco..
The bride is the daughter of Flo and George Kimmerling of San Francisco. She is the sister of Rudy Kimmerling of Berkeley and Naomi Kimmerling of Santa Cruz. Grandparents are Netti Kimmerling of San Francisco and Dina and Sol Gryn of Skokie, Ill.
The groom is the son of Pam and Joel Neuberg of Sebastopol. Grandparents are Loretta Haas of Sebastopol and LeRoy Neuberg of Chicago.
Bridesmaids were Netti Kimmerling, Laura Haas, Allison Alcivar, Stephanie Atlas, Brittany Lichtig and Michele Cheowtraukul. Ushers were Rudy Kimmerling, Adam Haas, Josh Oster-Morris, Todd Huddelson, Colby Eihrman and Joel Passavoy.
The Beatles’ “I Will” was the song for the couple’s first dance, performed by the bride’s mother.
Jake and Mina met in September 1999 at the Kaplan Educational Center in Westwood, next to UCLA, where Mina was an undergraduate and where Jake and Mina both went to business school. At Kaplan, Jake was her GRE tutor. Recently, he started his own SAT test prep company.
He proposed the day before his birthday in Carmel, after they had taken a drive up the coast. Jake said, “the only thing I want for my birthday is for you to say yes,” and then pulled out the ring.
After a honeymoon in Australia and New Zealand, the newlyweds are living in Los Angeles.
