Martha Ann Wishnev, a Contra Costa County real estate agent, has served on the boards of Diablo Valley Hadassah, Temple Isaiah Sisterhood and the Jewish Federation of the Greater East Bay's Women's Division. She studies classical biblical Hebrew at Berkeley's Lehrhaus Judaica. When the Contra Costa Jewish Community Center secured its own building in Walnut Creek, she was the first nursery-school teacher. She is currently working to provide Shabbat dinners to college students and young people through Hillel.
Sanford Wishnev, a distributor of California wines, served as president and vice president of Temple Isaiah and has sat on nearly every synagogue committee. He was chairman of the fund-raising drive that culminated in the building of the synagogue's new social hall. He presently sits on the finance committee. He is founder and chair of the first Jewish Film Festival for Contra Costa County, which raises funds to send children of immigrants to JCC nursery schools and camps.
